Not able to see all the choices in the Data Validation list

My problem is that users are not able to see all the choices in the list. There are currently 76221 choices in the source list, but it's cutting off many of the items from the bottom of the list.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the whole list visible? Is there a limit of rows in a drop down like that? (I thought it was 10000 rows.)

Good day c_rahu001

You have over 76 THOUSAND choices in a drop down list!!!. That can not be right, just how long does it take to scroll through 76 THOUSAND choices in a drop down, you say that you thought that the maximum was 10 thousand which is a lot less than 76 THOUSAND.

I really hope I have miss understood your question

Hi c_rahul001,

Adding something more to what bobhc mentioned, is there any possibility that you could remove some duplicates from your list, if there is any.

Cheers,

Z.

Hi Rahul ,

Can you not have two or more levels of drop-downs ?

For example , if the choices are text items , then your first level can be only the first characters ; if the text items are purely alphabetic , then choosing the first letter can bring up the second level of drop-downs.

76000 choices is something I would not give my worst enemy !

I have to ask, what does your drop down validation hold, K76 items is a lot, even for a large very large warehouse, or sales areas, K76 would cover every area and sub area on the planet. If you have this much data in one column I would suggest that you should be thinking of using a Access Data Base, an input form would display what ever was stored in the data base as you input the data, as you typed it in so you would get a choice with the characters as you typed.

Thanks for help all of you.

Will like to explain why i need the list with so much items in it.

I will be not scrolling down for finding the value as will be entering the value by typing in the cell. As Narayan explained want to try same i have the items in text formats and would like to have level1 and level2 drop down hence as i will enter the value it automatically give me the item from the list after entering few characters of the string.

Although i have no issue if will not be able to view the entire list as i have tested for the text which does not contain in list but was able to get the result for same.

i.e. the value are present in list only we cant view in the drop down so no issue at all.

Thanks all of you, for support and help.
