Multiple results to display based on selection made from one drop down list

Hi there, I need some help in putting together a spread sheet where if one main item is chosen from the drop down list, then corresponding values appear in separate cells. I have made a small example (jpeg) to illustrate what I am trying to do but cannot attach here.

Basically my goal is have a dropdown list for items P1, P2 etc. In other words, that’s the item I want to select. So if I select P1, I want to see (in a separate column) that it belongs to D1, D3 and D6. In a separate column, I also want to see that P1 relates to S1 and S3 and that S1 relates to C1, C3 and C9 and S3 related to nothings.

I would be really grateful if there is anyone who can offer some advice or guidance on this.

Kind Regards

Annie

Hi, scoot_eruk!

First of all welcome to Chandoo's website Excel forums. Thank you for your joining us and glad to have you here.

As a starting point I'd recommend you to read the three first green sticky topics at this forums main page. There you'll find general guidelines about how this site and community operates (introducing yourself, posting files, netiquette rules, and so on).

Among them you're prompted to perform searches within this site before posting, because maybe your question had been answered yet.

Feel free to play with different keywords so as to be led thru a wide variety of articles and posts, and if you don't find anything that solves your problem or guides you towards a solution, you'll always be welcome back here. Tell us what you've done, consider uploading a sample file as recommended, and somebody surely will read your post and help you.

And about your question...

Uploading a sample file would be useful for people who might be able to help you, and always an Excel file with the input data, the manually written output data required and a brief explanation of what you try to accomplish, are far more better than an image file. If needed, please refer to second green sticky post for uploading instructions. If there are issues concerning firewall policies then consider posting an email here so someone could get back to you and receive the file.

Regards!
