multiple cells conditional formating

Hi,

Small confusion on conditional formatting.

can i do conditional formatting on mutilple cells (not necessary to be in same row/col) in single shot ?

i can explain my scenario:

Am using Excel 2010.

I selected B2,D3,E4 cells for conditonal formating.

Then selected 'Conditonal formatting >new rule> use a formula to determine which cells to format'

I gave my formula. ie =A1=1 and selected the format needed. then Apply ...Ok

But only B2 is getting formated when my formula gets true. othere cells are not getting formated.

why ?

is there any method to copy conditional format of a cell to another ?

plse gave advice...

Because cells apply formatting relatively to the first cell

and then applies this relativity to all other cells in the CF

so in your case A1 is relative to B2 as Row-1, Col-1

and this will be applied to D3 which will then look at C2 for its input etc

To fix this use

=$A$1=1 as your equation
