Max date based on a specific content

Hello, I need a help I have a spreadsheet and I need to find the max date based on other column text, example:


COLUMN TO ANALIZE DATES

35PA 10/12/2011

36AZ 11/01/2010

35EF 10/12/2011

36PA 11/01/2012

35PA 10/12/2011

36AZ 11/01/2012

35TZ 10/12/2009

36AZ 11/01/2010


So, I need to find the max date based on the last two digits of the first column.


It is possible?

Array formula confirmed with Ctrl+shift+Enter, not just Enter.

=MAX(IF(RIGHT(A2:A10,2)="AZ",B2:B10))
