Map/Link master excel database for any excel sheet....

Hi,


I have stored master sheet in that model wise updated purchase cost, landed cost, dp price, last sold cost , profit and loss such type of details are kept in separate master sheet and seperate folder.


in a day many times i want to use that master database for multiple purpose and every time i need to search that master sheet and then i collect required details with vlookup....


i wanted to avoid that searching practice, and here with the help of excel functions or vba can we map/link that master database


like in excel menu ribbon formulas > defined names tool works, where we can easily map data and utilize it in that particular excel sheet where we have mapped data.

i have file A where i have kept some important details. on daily basis i have to use that with the help of vlookup but every time i need to open that file and map with required criteria, here i want to avoid that exercise to search that file then open it and then map it.


can we link that file A with any file to use without open it.

Hi Ajinkya ,


You can use the filename and sheet name and cell references through INDIRECT , but you should be aware that INDIRECT does not work with closed files ; if at all you want results of the formulae to be available , then the external file has to be open.


I am just assuming this will answer your question , since I am still not clear on your exact requirement.
