Lock cells after data entry

Sir,

I used to maintain an excel book of records, in which previous month's data are saved.

I want to ensure that, a data should remain unaltered after its entry in the cell(i.e) once after the data entery, the cell should be locked/uneditable.


Someone kindly suggest on this pls.
