Limit of macro

Hello all,

I am excited to be apart of this excel forum. It took me forever to find where to create a new thread. I see that Chandoo thinks he can make me awesome in using excel.

My first question is there a limit to how many macro you can create in excel?

Hi ,

I don't think there is any limit , per se , to the number of macros a workbook can have ; the number of worksheets in a workbook is limited by available memory , but obviously once you start populating a worksheet with data and formulae , and start using the workbook in a productive manner , the limit can be even just one !

Since each worksheet can have several event procedures , there should theoretically be no limit on the number of macros you can have in a workbook , though there is a limit on how long a macro can be i.e. how many lines of code it can have ; Microsoft limits the compiled code to 64KB , though how it would translate to actual code text is difficult to say ; there are some threads which mention it to be 256 KB , which again translates to a little more than 1000 lines of VBA code.
