Intersection Points

Hi.. I'm sure there is a relatively easy way to determine Points of intersection between two line graphs? i have a scenario where we have a railway line (vertical alignment) and then the NGL (Natural Ground Level) and i would like to determine where the intercept points will be between the two.

Please help !

Hi Colin ,

Finding the point of intersection of two line graphs is a matter of equating the two ; the point which is common to both graphs will be present on both lines.

In your case , how are the two lines / planes defined ? Do you have their equations ?

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org forums.

As Narayan said, finding the intersection point of two lines/curves requires the equations for those curves

If you don't have the equations, you could use coefficients of best fit to make estimates

Are you able to upload a sample file with either the equations or data? Refer: http://chandoo.org/forums/topic/posting-a-sample-workbook

Hi!

I know that it has nothing related to your question, but perhaps you might find this interesting, it's about railroad lines and time schedules:
