How to use the custom format to show a dash for a cell that contains a formula?

I have a cell that I need to show a dash for the formula which is placed on that cell, and then when the formula takes a value, the cell needs to display the result.

your help is greatly appreciated.

This is the formula:

SUMIFS(INDIRECT($C$21),Sales_Per,B24,Product,$C$19,Period,$C$20)

This formula is coming form the first sheet(CH1) of dynamic dashboard in chandoo's blog. When there is no value, the cell shows: - but that is only the format when you click on the cell, you see that there is a formula.

Thank you very much for your help.

Guity,

My office firewall does not allow to download the file from Skydrive; and the mirror zip at chandoo is broken.

if possible please email the same at sharma.vijay1-at-gmail.com

Guity,

Are you wanting the cell to display "-" or "0" when the sum is zero? If the cell contains a formula, it will always contain a formula unless you remove it. Maybe post a quick example on here of what it currently shows, and what you'd like to see?

Luke & Vijay,

I got my answer, when there is a formula in the cell, it shows 0. I went to conditional formatting and did a custom format while the value in the cell is equal to 0, it needs to show a -.

Your explanation and question and tip from Vijay led me to find the solution.

Thank you very much

In older versions of ppt when you clicked on a chart the data always showed up in an excel chart. Now it saeems that this doesn't always happen. When I create a chart in excel and then paste it into ppt, the data is linked but if I e-mail that ppt file to someone else they don't seem to be have access to the data LED Light Bars

Flexible LED Strip Lights

Outdoor LED Lighting .

I would like to be able to have an excel file with multiple charts which is linked to an ppt but where the ppt. can be sent easily and the data worked on by someone else. What is the easiest way of doing this.

Many thanks in advance.
