Hui Excel Ninja Staff member Jun 6, 2012 #2 Parbati The easiest way to sort dates is to use proper numbers for the dates and then use Custom Number formats to display the dates as you have above That is enter dates as 1/Month/Year eg: 1/6/2012 for June 2012 then display the dates using a Custom number format as mmm Doing this stores the dates as Numbers which can then be sorted numerically If your list was only 3 Characters like: jun jul aug oct sep You could select the list Goto Data, Sort Order, Custom List Select the Jan, Feb, Mar list Apply
