How to pick latest date and Last date from the list

Hi All

i need your help to know how to pick latest date and last date from the list of dates in excel

example

Parts Date of Arrival

X 17-Mar-12

Y 15-May-12

H 17-Jun-12

Z 6-Mar-12

Latest date =LARGE(A1:A4,1)

Last Date =SMALL(A1:A4,1)


Is this ok?

and


=MIN(A1:A4)

and large/Small formula does't help here

rsk's formulae should give you the same results as xld's ; assuming you have your dates in the range B2:B5 ( I copied your data and pasted it in Excel in cell A1 , and then converted the text to columns ) ,


=MIN(B2:B5) is the same as =SMALL(B2:B5,1)


=MAX(B2:B5) is the same as =LARGE(B2:B5,1)
