how to create gantt chart showing downtime days in each "task" help!!!

Hi there,

I have created a gantt chart in excel 10. Each bar on the gantt chart represents days needed to build a component (start to end usually takes around 3 months). How could I represent in each bar days the component was progessing from days component was on hold?

I have days the component was on hold. These days are spread all over start to finish dates (I.e. first week: there is activity, then three days on hold, then four days with activity, etc.)

Specifically, I have not understood how you structured the input data for "on hold" days versus "actvity days", especially in cases where you have multiple time periods of hold and activity.
