How to create a hyperlink that I can copy and have its values updated

I'm trying to create a spread sheet that will be an index to a collection of scanned images. The first column of the sheet will contain the first part of the file name i.e. the "abc" of "abc.jpg". Other columns will contain various indexing information and finally there will be a hyperlink column. The scanned files will all be in a single folder which will always be one level below the folder containing the workbook. I can do this using the basic hyperlink function by right clicking on the cell that is to contain the hyperlink and clicking on the relevant file that is to be referenced.

My problem, and I suspect it is a very basic problem, is that I don't know how I can set up a pointer to the first column of the sheet such that this pointer will update as I copy and paste the hyperlink to other rows. So for instance without any indirection specified my hyperlink would be "WW1\4000a.jpg" where "4000a" is in Cell A3, say and the hyperlink is in Cell G3. I would like to be able to copy and paste this hyperlink value into the Cell Gn and have it updated appropriately. I know I can do this with the HYPERLINK formula but is that the only way?

What is wrong with using the Hyperlink function ?

It can be used like:
=HYPERLINK(A3&".jpg")
or
=HYPERLINK("WW1\"&A3&".jpg")
if WW1 is a subdirectory of the current directory

Nothing wrong with it, I was just hoping I could have done it using the Hyperlink dialog rather than having to use the formula. Thanks for your help.

But the Hyperlink Dialog doesn't allow the flexibility to change rows based on a moveable end formula location
