how to convert data from note pad to excel

I am Wilson Dsouza, working as an accountant, interested in excel learning


I have one question to ask as below


I want to know that if I have a data in note pad format which I have to convert into excel, so there is any other way is available than copying the data from notepad to excel and doing “ text to column?

Hi Wilson,


Welcome to the forum, is it possible you could give some examples of the data you wish to manipulate. You can just copy data into Excel then manipulate it with formulas or VBA, but without some examples its difficult to know what you want to do.

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums


If the data is Column or Comma or some common character Delimited, you can import it directly and do a Column to Text on import

This is best done via a macro if you are doing it regularly


As OldChippy said please upload a file and details of how often you want to do it for us to advise further
