N NARAYANK991 Excel Ninja Jul 17, 2014 #2 Hi Larry , Multiplying is a standard operation in Excel ; a formula such as : =B4*$H$3 will multiply the contents of cell B4 by the contents of cell H3. If you copy this formula downwards , you will get the following formulae in successive cells : =B5*$H$3 =B6*$H$3 =B7*$H$3 and so on. If you copy the formula across columns , you will get the following formulae in successive cells : =C4*$H$3 =D4*$H$3 =E4*$H$3 and so on. By removing the $ signs one after the other , you will get formulae such as : =B4*$H3 =B4*H$3 =B4*H3 Try copying the above formulae downwards and across to see how things change based on where the $ sign is used.
