How do I chart multiple types of data so it makes sense!

Morning!

I am working on a graph and having some trouble conveying the data.

The basis of the data is a typically sales situation…there are actual total sales per month and a planned target that needs to achieve.

So I have the actual sales as a Bar Chart and the Target as a Line. And clearly one can see when the target was or wasn’t achieved.

But also at play is the actual and target “average sale per transaction” (sales in a month divided by the number of transactions in said month).

I’d like those charted because is some situations they are indicative of a problem, but more lines complicate the visuals.

What are some other chart types that could accommodate a Total versus a Target and a Avg versus a Target?

Thanks!

Steve

Dear shaffer911

Why don't you plot it on secondary axis? Adjusting the max and min of the secondary axis could distinguish your "avg sales per transaction actual/target" lines from the state sales actual/target graph.
