I found the tip to hide command labels. exactly what I was looking for but...

when I right click the ribbon item, the menu I get has everything BUT "Hide Command Labels". I get "Add New Tab", "Add New Group", etc.

What do I do to get this option to Hide Command Labels?

Hi ,

From what I have read on the Internet , this facility is only available for custom groups which you have added ; it is not available for the native groups within Excel.

Are you talking of custom groups or the native ones ?

yes, the native ones. thank you.

It's odd that other folks in my office have the same version of Excel and some have the labels and some don't.

We just can't seems to figure out the difference.

Hi ,

What I read was that you can duplicate all the native tabs in a custom group , execute the Hide Command Labels action on this custom group , and then hide the native group ; see if this works.

Another option is as follows ( copied from Microsoft® Excel® 2010 Inside Out

By Mark Dodge, Craig Stinson ) :

To hide command labels , right click the Ribbon , click Customize The Ribbon , then right click any Custom Group in the outline , and click Hide Command Labels. Note that this command appears on the shortcut menu , only when you click a Custom Group.
