help!! find similar entry btween two columns in same row

Hi
Help needed..I want to find how many rows carry same specific entry(+) in two different columns
eg:
Name History of surgery managed conservatively
ram + -
paul + +
nahim - +
prael + -
max - -
now , here only paul has both "+" , so the answer should come 1..as we see max also has similar entry "-" but i want only "+" to be counted

Welcome to the forum.

Use below formula and see if its give you correct result.
=SUMPRODUCT((J10:J15="+")*(K10:K15="+"))

Here J10:J15 have either + or - and same way K10:K15. Put name in Column I in same rows as your + & -.

Just advise if any issue.

IT SEEMS THERES SOME PRBLEM ....THE RESULT IT IS SHOWING IS 'O'. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE ATLEAST 20 SIMILAR "+" ENTERIES IN BOTH COLUMNS

Try: =COUNTIFS($B$1:$B$5,"+",$C$1:$C$5,"+") where your data is in range A1:C5.

thanks..
it seems theres some prblem ....the result it is showing is 'o'. although there are atleast 20 similar "+" enteries in both columns
