Formula to add lines

Kinoyo

Hello, I am new to the forum and boy do I need help

I have to format reports by finding the subtotal a of various classes of items. The files are sorted by class so I was hoping there was a formula that I could use to notice when the class number changed and add a line to separate the classes at those points (a sum formula would also be helpful in the newly created line).

Is something like this possible? It would save me hours!

Thanks.

Hi Kinoyo ,

I am not sure I have understood you , but if you merely want to introduce subtotals whenever the class changes , can you not use the in-built subtotal feature of Excel ?

Select your data range , click on Data , Subtotal , Class , ....

This will add a SUBTOTAL row to your data whenever the class changes , and that row will contain the subtotal figures.
