Formula for find Tax Value from Total Value.

I would like to find out Tax value from Total Value. Ex. Total Value = 388612.13.


I want to find out 12.5% Tax Value from the Total Value.

I am sure I did not get your question properly.


You are not trying to calculate =388612.13*12.5/100, I am sure!


Could you please tell us what exactly you are after by giving us some more info.


Or please wait for someone who would probably understand the problem already

Let me guess, OP is going to ask for progressive taxation or a vlookup() table for tax rate. :D

Tax will come 43179.12556

Total Value 388612.13 and except tax value = 345433.0044

except tax calculation formula as given below. Same like a formula need to find out the tax.


=A2/(1+12.5%)

If A2 contains the value then it should be A2*12.5/100 as said kaushik03.

If it needs to be 43179 you either need to adjust A2's value or your tax rate. Your problem is still not clear. Can you state clearly what you are after??

I am sorry but your problem is still not clear to me.


It looks like your expected result(43179.125) is 11.11% of Total Value = 388612.13. And you are trying to find out 12.5% Tax Value from the Total Value (388612.13) which is to me nothing but =A2*12.5/100. But this will not give you the result (43179.125) you are expecting.


Can you explain what is the logic of this formula?

=A2/(1+12.5%)

actually tax calculation is


TOTAL VALUE X 100/112.5 = EXCLUDING VAT VALUE IS COMING


EXCLUDING VAT X PERCENTAGE OF TAX AND USE % OPTION WE CAN GET THE TAX


AND YOUR FORMULA IS WORKING FINE


YOU CAN USE ANOTHER FORMULA IN CALCULATION IN EXCEL THAT IS


TOTAL VALUE X 100/112.5X12.5% = TAX VALUE
