Format Charts with Keyboard

I've been using Excel 2007 since I first started with Excel, and I've recently started using 2013 at work at 2016 at home. I find that when I open the Format Chart menu, the old keyboard tricks don't work. If I press tab, it just takes me to the next object in the chart instead of tabbing through the menu. Can someone please help me? I've had to use the mouse for my charts this past week and it's killing my productivity.
 
Once you have a chart selected use the up/down arrows to scroll through the charts component objects
When you have a series selected use the right/left arrows to choose individual points to edit

At any stage Ctrl+1 to format the current object
