Forcing the same result with MATCH

I am using the below formula to gain a result:

=MATCH(K1, $B$6:$F$6, 0)

However, it returns the result in B6:F6, which the cell value differs. How do I force the result to be whatever value I want? I'd like it to return a single number, and be the same number as I utilize the above formula to point to other cells besides K1.

Perhaps I am using the wrong formula?

(I am not currently attaching a spreadsheet as my network at work prohibits upload)

Is any one able to assist with my MATCH issue?

If you cannot upload a sample, how about posting some sample work so that we can see exactly what you are tyring to do. Tough to envision with out sample data.

Thanks for trying to help, I finally got home from work... :)

I did not include any formula, only an explanation of what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks for viewing the file.
