I have excel file tracking professors, publication titles and dates of publications. How can I make excel scan through the data and show how many publications each professor had at each possible date?
In the original file here is the column layout:
Column A: professor's name
Column B: publication title
Column C: date of publication

In the new file I want
Column A: professor's name
Row 1: cells show the dates of publication
Starting in Column B, Row 2: number of publications printed by professor on the date

Can someone help me automate this process? I am tired of counting by hand!

Hi ,

The task itself is easy ; the difficult part is to create some test data !

If you can upload at least a sample file , you will make it easy for everyone.

Hi EPTowers,

Please have a look of attached file. Sheet Data will go your data and sheet 2 is result. Just adjust the range as per your data.

And next time please upload a sample workbook as Narayan Sir indicated. It save a lot of your as well as reader time.

Regards,

Hi EPTowers,

You could just use the Data sheet in Somendra Misra workbook and use the filters at the top or use a Pivot Table to get the results you require
