Excel Timeline Question

Hello,

First and foremost, I would like to put it out there that I'm as dumb as a rock when it comes to excel; I am the beginner of the beginners. So I apologize in advance for any frustrations I cause with my inability to understand excel stuff!

I would just like to know how to recreate the formatting shown on the picture I am uploading with this post. I've circled the main parts in red to show exactly what I would like to know. How does one make the color trail down like that? And is it possible to make a timeline as shown in the picture? And also would it be possible to make it adjustable?

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums

You can use a Custom Number Format for the Inset Text
Select the Range
Ctrl+1

Add as many spaces between the "" as you require

For the Lines you can use the Insert, Shapes menu


But if you are going to get serious about project planning I would recommend that you use MS Project or one of the many other equivalents

Please use excel option to increase or decrease Indent. (Home - Alignment tab then increase Indent)
