Excel Slicers 2010 Cross Worksheets

Anyone have an idea as to how to use a common set of "Slicers" to control pivot tables/data in two different worksheets.

Note... This is different than using slicers across multiple sheets using a common spreadsheet(pivot cache or source).

My issue is I have different types of data on sheets in the workbook that I want controlled by a series of slicers that I have created.

Hi,

As long as they've been set up with the same pivotcache then that should be fine, I do it regularly.

I don't beleive you can connect slicers to different caches but through VBA you should be able to link the control of pivot tables to a list box. In effect creating a slicer. The downside of this is the extra code required & the requirement for either page fields on the pivots, or extra slicers to control.

You would struggle to apply the same formatting & style control to a LB that you can to a slicer. The flip side is it would take up less space leaving your data clearer.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

You identified the problem... data is in different excel workbooks or worksheets and not part of the same data source/cache.

Looks like putting everything into an access database and then running an excel report will be the work around.
