Excel Error Message - XML - Excel 2010

I have a workbook that frequently (not all the time) keeps coming up with this error message.

I'm not aware of having anything to do with XML in the workbook.

Repaired part:/xlworksheet/sheet3.xml part with XML error. Load error. Line 2,column 0,

I've looked at the sheet and assume Line 2 is row2? - but what is column 0?

Can ideas?

Thanks

Camman.

Good day Cammandk

The XML is coming from the new file extension used in 2010 xlsx, the last x standing for XML.

Have you done a repair on the file.

Hi Bobhc

Yes have done a repair - and thought everything was ok - but what it's done is unmerge many cells and removed all data validation.

Sorry about your loss of validation.....BUT it is not a good thing to merge cells, to do so is to give your workbook to the devil himself. Merged cells stop you doing many things such as working with VBA, Formulas, formatting and functions, just about anything really, merged cells can and do screw up your work.

Thanks for advice - better rethink the merged cells. What was driving this was using a worksheet as a form and trying to have entry cells that could be laid out well.

@Cammandk

You can still have the look you want but use center across selection, that way you do not screw-up you formatting. formulas, functions or any thing else that is chewed up and spat out by merging cells.
