Hi Narayan/ Jeff
sorry .. it is not working in both the cases. Jeff, if i try "save as" with your file it gives me an run time error. Narayan, i want that when user open the file, MACROS sheet should open up only and force the user to enable Macros as explained by Jeff... i will appreciate if you guys can help me..

Thanks
Sushil

Hi Narayan,
it is the same .. when i first open the file from the website it takes me to the "MACROS" tab and force me to enable the macros. But when i do save as to my computer, it gives me run time error and shows "Call Sheet1.Update" in yellow color. when i says end to run time error ....it lets me save and close the file but the next time when i open the file it doesnot go to"MACROS" tab and does not force me to enable the macros...

Thanks
Sushil

Hi Sushil ,

I would request you to take up your problems with the website from where you got all these macros ; if you want me to troubleshoot the macros , please write down exactly what should happen under what circumstances.

Initially the problem was with the BeforeClose macro , which Lohith resolved ; now it is with the Save As option and the Update macro ; this will just go on and on.

Can you first confirm that the problem you had with the BeforeClose macro is no longer there ?

Once you confirm , we can go on from there , one step at a time ; I have so far not even looked at the Update macro , and I don't intend to if the first problem to be taken up is the BeforeSave macro.

Hi Narayan,
Thanks for spending so much time on this problem. the thing i want to do with this macro is.... when the user opens the file .....all the sheets except the sheet named Macros should be hidden . "Macros" sheet should be open showing the arrow to the user that the user has to enable the macro before proceeding further and until then other sheets wont be visible . once macro is enabled "macros" sheet will hide and other sheets will be open. Once the user update the data and clicks save.. the pivot tabel should automatically refresh before closing. this cycle needs to be repeated every time the work book is open.. Hope this explains better. Please feel free to change the existing macro.. Thanks again for your patience and time..

Thanks
Sushil

Hi Sushil ,

Is there any specific reason why the pivot table should be refreshed before saving the file ?

Can the pivot table refresh be a part of the Workbook_Open macro , so that when the user gets to use the workbook , the pivot table is updated ?

Narayan

Hi Narayan,
user updates the values in column A to E and the results are sumarised in Pivot table. users are not familar with pivotables hence i want pivot table to be refreshed on its own before work book is closed . This file is emailed after it is updated and whosoever opens the file should get the refreshed pivot table data.

Thanks
Sushil
