Excel charts to PowerPoint

Alfa

New Member
Dear All,

I have a problem, but it is not a clear excel issue.

I have an excel file with 18 charts. We put the fresh data into this file and it is show those on the charts. (Really nice charts thanks to Chandoo :) )

But we have a special screen in our office. This is a small computer, connected to a giant TV and a powerpoint presentation run on it continuously.

In this presentation are 3 slides with 6 charts per slide. Now we copy the charts every morning by hand from the excel to powerpoint file and launch the presentation. And it is on the screen, unchanged during the whole day.

How to link the charts into the presentation?

I would like to just put the new data into the excel file, save it, open the powerpoint file, it is pick up the fresh chart automatically. Is it possible in Office 2007?

Thank you in advance!

Hi ,

Is it possible for you to upload the Powerpoint presentation ( with just one slide ) and one Excel workbook with one chart ?

Hi NARAYANK991,

It is includes several other sensitive business data.

I will try to remove these or make a similar one what I can to show you.

By the way, how can share a file with you or other forum members?

Thx!

Hi ,

Check out the following forum link :

In brief , just use any file-sharing site of your choice , upload your files there , give access rights to others , and post the access link here.

Hi NARAYANK991

I have to create new files, because a can not use the original one due to the safety regulation at our company.

The files are here

I hope it will work, because this is my first file sharing by this way.

As you see, if we put more data in the excel file, than the chart in the powerpoint file do not change. Unfortunately, we have to use excel and powerpoint file at once.

Hi, Alfa!

Start Powerpoint, open the "Text_slide.pptx" file, go to File tab, Information option, Related Documents section (bottom right of the windows, Edit File Links (penultimate option), and then set one by one the four links changing for each one the Update mode from Manual to Automatic.

Start Excel, open the "Text_book.xlsx" file, go to worksheet Data, change any value included in the chart, and you'd see the reflection in PPT.

This works for Powerpoint 2010 and I don't remember if it's been unchanged from 2007 version, but indeed it changed it shouldn't be much different. Just advise if you find any issue while trying to follow the above indications.

Regards!

Hi SirLB7!

Thank you for your answer.

I tried it, but I was unsuccessful. I did not find the menu what you said (PowerPoint2007).

There is a popup menu in the ribbon if I click to a chart. Chart Tools/Design/Refresh Data and with this I can update a chart. But do it with one chart only. And have lot of charts in my original PowerPoint presentation.

I can not find this Manual/Automatic mode switch in PowerPoint2007.

Thx.

Alfa,

In 2007, I believe the menu SirJB7 is referring to is found via:

Office Button - Prepare - Edit Links to File.

If you don't see the last option, you may need to scroll down a little within the Prepare menu.

@Luke M

Hi!

Thank you for the lifeguard, I actually don't remember any menu structure about PP 2007.

Hello,

You may take a look at EzPaste (http://www.Ezpaste.net) that looks relevant in some aspects to your inquiry
