Excel 2013 flickers

Angry Thinker

New Member
I have Excel 2013 installed on a Win 8.1 laptop, and have used it without any problems. Today Excel started giving a brief blink every 10 secs or so, even though I was using 1 of my regular files. It does it with my other regular files too. I have not changed anything.
There are no macros.
I turned off the PC & rebooted but the issue persists.
Any suggestions?

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums

Firstly, close as many applications as possible, especially internet browsers of any type

Try disabling animations
Goto File, Options, Advanced
Scroll down to: General, Provide feedback with Animation
Disable that

If that doesn't help
Also Toggle Disable Hardware Acceleration
Which is in the same Advanced menu

Hi Hui, thanks for your quick reply.
Your 1st suggestion: under General there is only Provide feedback with Sound. I could not find animation mention under any other headings in Advanced.

Your 2nd suggestion: I disable hardware acceleration but that did not do the trick. When I just have Excel open - no file - the flicker is slower than when I have a file open, but it is still there.

Hui, a reboot after disabling the hardware acceleration solved it. Many thanks.
