Dynamic Chart Titles

Hi,

I need to know if there is a way to update Chart Titles automatically Month by Month

Currently I am having to alter the Month and Year every time a Chart is needed for the next Month

Hi ,

Your question is a very simple one , and you should have got your answer within minutes ; if it has still not been answered , one of the reasons is that you have uploaded an Excel worksheet which contains a picture of your chart , instead of the data and the chart itself.

If you cannot upload your actual workbook , you can wait till someone decides to answer your question.

P.S. Entering :

excel chart title dynamic

in Google gives several results , one of which is here :

http://www.exceldashboardtemplates.com/how-to-make-an-excel-chart-title-to-change-dynamically/

Sekect the chart
Select the title
In the formula bar type
=A1
Click the tick
In A1 set a formula that calculates the required chart title
Change A1 to suit

Wow -I just needed that little bit of Help !

Tried the Template first, but I think I had a 'Screw-up' in my original Title, so had difficulty with it - so decided to simply follow Hui's advice

After a couple of false starts, I wrote the Formula I needed in a separate cell, then followed his method, and 'Hey Presto !'

I have been trying to get this right for a long time, so am very grateful !

To make the Formula I needed, I had to use 'Append - & etc, but I have noticed that different colours in Append does not seem to be possible. Is there a way of doing this to produce kWh as follows - in the Chart Title: [KISAUNI is just my House Name !]: Here is the Formula text !

" . . . JUNE 2015 - kWh_SUN 'square' to 'KISAUNI' . . . . "

Double thanks for a Solution, which again, I have tried to do for some time!

Many thanks anyway !

You cannot use append or any other technique to get colors on text using formulas
You can achieve colors in text using via to construct the text
But that won't get transferred to the charts title

Thanks Hui - I thought as much - Good news is that your solution saves me a painstaking little task each Month - Cheers !

You could use 3 text boxes next to each other
All picking up different cells
The middle one can have red text color

Thanks again - I attach a Word file Pic of the finished result - slightly tricky to do at first - but I think I have the hang of it now. Pretty good result, I guess !

Many thanks for your lateral thinking !

Hi Hui,

I may be asking a bit too much, but I attach a Pic of my Personal SOLAR system Sheet (part of a suite of Sheets to track Production results !)

I currently need to be able to pick Data in a variable range, in order to lengthen and shorten the Times & Data shown in the relevant Charts. As you will note, there is a fairly complex extraction system I have devised - which is probably very amateur indeed - BUT actually works very well !

My constant aim is to Automate & Simplify, but to date, I have not been able to enter Chart formulas which will pick up the variable data (potentially every Month)

If you think it may be possible to Automate data ranges in the way I need, and can give me a steer, I will be most grateful. I cannot programme in VBA at all !

Regards
JOHN
