Recently had question asked about Havarsine UDF I posted while back.

Here's tool demonstrating how it can be utilized.

This calculates distance from selected zip's lat/long and grabs all zip that's within specified distance of it and compiles info in new sheet.

Does this macro always calculate distance using geographic coordinates?

Well... it's 5 year old link. You can find many free samples if you do google search. Yes, you need geo-coordinate to do greater circle distance calculation.

The macro calculates the distance between all locations that are within the predetermined radius when the macro is started.
Would you be kind to be able to enter other calculations such as the distance between a selected point and one or more locations to be identified?

another also works: all places beyond the indicated radius (the opposite of what you have established).
One more: all places within a polygon.
Can the user choose which of these functions to calculate?
