I need your help, I´m trying to write a formula to obtain the distance between 2 Zip Codes using Google Maps URL connection in Excel without positive results.

Can you help me with this?

Hi, Vic!

First of all welcome to Chandoo's website Excel forums. Thank you for your joining us and glad to have you here.

As a starting point I'd recommend you to read the three first green sticky topics at this forums main page. There you'll find general guidelines about how this site and community operates (introducing yourself, posting files, netiquette rules, and so on).

Among them you're prompted to perform searches within this site before posting, because maybe your question had been answered yet.

Feel free to play with different keywords so as to be led thru a wide variety of articles and posts, and if you don't find anything that solves your problem or guides you towards a solution, you'll always be welcome back here. Tell us what you've done, consider uploading a sample file as recommended, and somebody surely will read your post and help you.

And about your question...

Can you please check the below.. Hope it perfect for your situation.. :)

Hi, vic!

Hi,

I've just taken a look at the 2 las links in the post of SirJB7. They work like a charm!

I had to tinker with the period-comma delimma but it works brilliantly.

Couldnt help myself and have started on a dashboard to plot the lat/long in a scatterplot with as a background the map of the country where I work. thought i'd share it!

the idea is simple:

- get the long/lat using the above VBA (got it)

- get a scatterplot, stick your country's map in there and keep an eye on the ratio (got it)

- get the long/lat of the major cities and align the axis's min/max (working on this)

- go nuts with the plotting! :p

Why you ask ... cause I can :)

@MrBramme

Hi!

Glad to hear both links work fine. As I said I knew them, I read them but I haven't tried them because I'm not US based so I didn't find any direct use in real tasks.

Regards!

EDIT:

PS: Au fait, bienvenue monsieur, et très louable votre phrase de présentation sur le sujet "Présentez-vous"

(BTW, welcome sir, and very commendable your presentation phrase on the topic "Introduce yourself").

Hi SirJB7,

Thanks, just a quick sidenote: I'm not US based either but Belgian based. the longitude/latitude script works worldwide so you can, if you like, apply the same script worldwide :)

and on another sidenote: i've got it fully functional so i'm a happy puppy right now :)

@MrBramme

Hi, dog with two tails!

Thanks for the sidenotes, I'll keep it in mind so as to use it soon, I've a scheduled project where I'd profit from it.

Regards!
