Date Format Problem

hi all,
I have some values between 1 and 12 in col A. these are month numbers.
now i want a format which will convert each month by its name, like 1 show Jan, 2 - Feb and so on.
I use custom formatting as MMM but all values shows JAN only.
how can it possible?

As it is, Excel takes 1 as FIRST DAY, 2 as SECOND DAY and so forth. Add numbers up to 32 and you'll eventualy see Feb :)
The trick here is to create a 'fake' date to feed xls.
in B1 enter =date(2014,A1,1), copy down and format B1:B12 as you mentioned
