Data validation is always giving error

Hi

I have used data validation in cell D54 with the below formula to trigger an error message;

1-C54<>D54

Value in C54 - 70%
Value in D54 - 30%

The purpose is that user will not enter a value which makes the sum of C54+D54 > or < 100%.

Now it will trigger the error message even if I try to enter correct value. I thought the error message should come only if the formula is true.

Can some one explain whats's wrong.

Try the Data Validation formula :
=C54+D54=1

You will need to enter values as either 30% or 0.3
30 will be treated as a Number

Thanks a lot for the replay Hui. I tried it, but still it trigger the error message irrespective of the value I enter.

Please find the sample file attached. Help me to find out where I did mistake.

goto Data, Data Validation


Repeat for C4:E4 and D5:E5
adjust ranges in DV to suit
