Dear Excel Sifu,

I have data that needed to be sorted as follow.

Truck No. ETD ETA

33M 4080 1-Oct 6-Oct

33M 4095 1-Oct 9-Oct

33M 5035 1-Oct 9-Oct

33M 4080 5-Oct 15-Oct

33M 5035 5-Oct 16-Oct

33M 4095 5-Oct 17-Oct

The above data is the delivery date for our products.

I need to sort the data according to the Truck No.

Is there any other way to sort this data other than Pivot Tables?

Thanks in advance.

You can also use Data - Outline - Subtotal to group your data by truck and create an outline that has one truck heading similar to your example output. It will have a total line for each truck that can just give a count of records.

For more info, check the Excel 2010 Help on Filtering and Sorting: http://office.microsoft.com/client/helpcategory14.aspx?CategoryID=CH010369011&NS=EXCEL

The two pertinent topics are "Insert subtotals in a list of data in a worksheet" and "Outline (group) data in a worksheet".

These features are available in older version of Excel as well, although the instructions as they relate to the ribbon interface obviously won't apply.
