Dear All

Once again i need your expertise advise on the below issue

I am new to Dashboards and i can create small graphs and other reports. I am very much familiar with Excel Formulas, Excel VBA and other MS office products. Now i got one problem that, one of my boss requested me to design a dashboard for our monthly reports.
I tried to search the dashboard design and other principles on internet. But I was unable to get the ideas. Now i finally posting this in the forum because so many are dashboard professionals.

Can you please suggest me the below things for my workout
- Dashboard Design Principles
- What should i focus on Dashboard
- Which charts and other stuff need to choose
 
I'd start by discussing what your boss wants to see and measure
Once you have that mock up some simple dashboards with charts & tables but no interactivity or numbers, even hand drawn layouts

Settle on a page/display size early in the process as changing later can sometimes be difficult

See if he is happy and what else he is missing or wants
Also is there content there that is not required or only used by 1% of people

I'd also have a look at the Dashboard Contests here as they have a number of ways of displaying data which can all be adapted to most situations
 
We can help you with the mechanism of how a dashboard should work
But You and the Boss need to define what you need.

This is also a great opportunity for you to impress!
as believe it or not you may actually know more than the boss about what data is available and hence what is important for him to measure his business
The results make him look good, makes you look good.
