csv to xls for time tracking

I would like to turn this: http://cl.ly/image/06300r2j3s0m a .csv file into this http://cl.ly/image/3v3H3q3D3j2t .xls file. Is that possible, and if yes: how? It's from my time tracking software.

Full files are here:

xls: http://cl.ly/2A171h451615

csv: http://cl.ly/0p2v0X0n2s1K

The most important things to extract from the csv is whether it's 'hhs-kurs' or 'toppbetyg' and what name it has (for example '317' or '601'.)

Hi, vilhelm!

First of all welcome to Chandoo's website Excel forums. Thank you for your joining us and glad to have you here.

As a starting point I'd recommend you to read the three first green sticky topics at this forums main page. There you'll find general guidelines about how this site and community operates (introducing yourself, posting files, netiquette rules, and so on).

Among them you're prompted to perform searches within this site before posting, because maybe your question had been answered yet.

Feel free to play with different keywords so as to be led thru a wide variety of articles and posts, and if you don't find anything that solves your problem or guides you towards a solution, you'll always be welcome back here. Tell us what you've done, consider uploading a sample file as recommended, and somebody surely will read your post and help you.

And about your question...

Tried yet with the built-in text to columns feature?

- select input data A1:A48

- data Tab, Data Tools group, Text to Columns icon (first one)

- choose Delimited and specify comma as delimiter

Does this help?

Regards!

EDIT:

Then you only have to rearrange columns and sort by required fields and add formulas for totals.

That was exactly what I needed, thanks!

Now, I want to import them into google calendar. I have this: http://cl.ly/image/3l2h0s3t0q27 and I that's how it should be, but comma separated. See also: https://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=15286&answer=37118 http://gocards44.wordpress.com/2008/03/28/how-to-import-a-csv-file-to-google-calendar/

Hi, !

Glad you solved it. Thanks for your feedback and for your kind words too.

But I'm afraid I didn't understand what do you need regarding Google Calendar import process, do you need further assistance about Excel or GC? If it's about Excel, just elaborate a bit more, please; if it's about GC I'm sorry but I haven't ever used it.

Despite of this, welcome back whenever needed or wanted.

Regards!

It's something I need to do in excel, in order to make it fit to GC. It's basically doing the same thing you showed me with "text to columns", but in reverse. Googled "columns to text", but didn't find anything.
