Creating a dynamic display for descriptive non-numeric data

I am trying to use the dynamic chart with hyperlink solution to display some data. However, when a particular set of data is selected I also want a region on a map highlighted. How do I connect the two? I'm stumped.
 
I'd suggest using a Scatter Chart with a single point

Put the chart in front of a Map

Set the chart to have no background color - Transparent

set scale correctly

Apply a Data label to the Point which will display a name

Use the hyperlink to link to a reference which will retrieve the X, Y Coordinates for the point
