Hi shabeer,

No need to worry about curly braces they are used for array formulas... Just copy formula and press ctrl+shift and enter instead of just enter.... (ctrl+shift+enter)

HI Shabeer

{} this brackets are used for Array formulas.

When u press ctrl+shift+enter together after formula it will come automatically.

Any query plz let me know.

Hi Isityak and Faseeh,

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried ctrl+shift+enter but the new pasted formula is saying "#Value!". even if I remove the parantheses in the original work sheet, the cell says "#Value!" despite no change in the formula. what could be the reason?

The formula is probably now referencing different cells that no longer give a valid answer.

I see in the formula you reference Master!C13 without it being an absolute reference (no dollar signs), which means it's now probably pointing somewhere else.

cant figure out...my data is as follows

there are 3 columns, product, quarter and sale

there are 25 type of products

for each product quarter are made up from 2000 to 2010 (for each quarter value is given as Q12000,Q22000, Q32000,Q42000,Q12001...till Q42010)

sale quantity for each of the above in units is given

What is required is a formula to show separately 4 consecutive previous quarter sales for a chosen product..let us say for product K required sales figure is for Q22005, Q12005, Q42004, Q32004. What will be the best way to calculate? if a different quarter is selected will hte formula work?
