Copy rows based on criteria

Ah, I see now I made a mistake in formula. Referenced column S as absolute ($S), but it needs to float for each group. Sorry about that.

Perhaps now would be the time to explain what the buttons/macros are trying to do. Presumably, there is one input (BTW: is row 43 always equal to row 44? Why the repeat?), and then the formulas can take over from there.

I will break up your questions in separate post.

okay, is row 43 always equal to 44? It can be. I am trying to manipulate my counters. What this means is I am making up my own counter numbers/patterns to give me a end result. I may want to do some that are say in row 43 2222 and row 44 2332. I can use those two rows any way I want but for now I am planning to use them as the same. I am doing a repeat because I want to LOL, (sound like my mother now lol) it just gives me a different pattern/number sequence to plook at. That being said and without confusion, I would love it if I could put in any number in those rows and run the program

What I want to be done is put the U, D,E or O into a column lets say column L rows 30-50 and HIJK will be empty. I want to be able to press a button like the one in T that says "GO" and it places in columns OPQR, VWXZ, AD AE AF AG, AJ AK AL AM rows 30-50 and so on the appropriate counter (number) sequence like it does in columns HIJK, OPQR does now. Does that make sense? The columns and rows will be empty except for 43 and 44. Those two rows will have numbers in the 4 columns. I would like to be able to fill up all the columns until the end of the number sequence of the 2222,3333,4444,5555,6666,7777,8888,9999

Attached is a sheet on how it will be laid out and what I am trying to accomplish. One sheet is for the Us and Ds and the other will have E's and O's. My idea is to be able to put the letters in L say 30 to 60 and press the GO in M and have it fill in all the other columns where the two sets of numbers are in rows 43 and 44. I can use whatever rows you say but would like to keep the columns consistent. I will need at least 30 rows for this which I know I can just drag it down

Does this all make sense Luke?

THANK YOU!!!!

I just uploaded the corrected spreadsheet. The last one had errors

After a 9 it goes back to a 1 so it will be like this 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9 see attached sheet

I fixed the formulas to account for the 9 to 1 problem. I'm still confused as to how/what the macro does. Formulas produce live results, so it seems that this setup would let you change the input to whatever you want, and the formulas will instantly spit out the results.

If you're not wanting the coloring to exist until you push a button, can we just change the formulas to display "" until data is available? Or, are you wanting the macro to build all the columns?

Either...I'm pretty confused as to what question you are needing help with. From us, the forum do you need:
  • A new macro
  • A new formula
  • Edit your macro
  • Edit formulas
  • Change layout
  • Build dashboard
I'm not sure anymore what it is we are trying to do. :(

In response to your question: - TO WHERE?? Are these outputs or inputs?? The inputs are the letters in column(s) F, M, S.Z, AG ... The outputs would be the 4 digit counters BCDE IJKL OPQR VWXY AC AD AE AF ....

My present Macro is fine and works

Then...are we done? We have a formulas that takes your inputs and produces the output, incrementing numbers 1-9, and alternating columns.

okay....what I am asking for..

I would like to put letters either U and D or E and O in a column (F M S Z AG AN AU BB BI BP and BV) having 2 rows of numbers in rows 58 and 59 in columns BCDE, IJKL, OPQR, VWXY, AC AD AE AF, AJ AK AL AM, AQ AR AS AT, AX AY AZ BA, BE BF BG BH, BL BM BN BO, BR BS BT BU. All other cells will be empty except for the rows and columns mentioned (rows 13-57 are empty)

I would like to be able to press a button to tell it to run OR have it populate as soon as I enter the letters in those columns. I will have 1 sheet for the Us and Ds and 1 sheet for the Es and Os.

Does this make sense Luke?

Let me look this over good. I am not at home at the moment working off my ipad, let me check it out

THANK YOU LUKE!!!!

Almost there, look at rows like 17 , 18, 19 and 20 21 22 23 24 there is an ODD number of vertical cells. They all have to be even number of cells like in rows 23 24 25 26

I have attached a pic of corrected and incorrect cells. Anything with a clue is incorrect and all other cells that have 3 cells vertically are incorrect. Anything with the blue is correct which is an even number of vertical cells. I did not do all the columns but every column needs to be adjusted. Hopefully this will make sense

That conflicts with your rule about obeying the letters (U/D/O/E). Which should take precedence...do we increment based on the letters, or based on previous pattern of numbers?

I am not sure I understand your question Luke about obeying letters vs numbers? You will not have a U and a E on the same sheet. A O and a D will be on different sheets too.

If you look at the pic the columns under IJKL are not correct. Using the same numbers and letters in columns OPQR this is correct. Make sense?

Hi Jack,

Check this out...got the formulas to emulate your latest picture. I've got a comparison between old formula, what you posted, and new formula (for comparison sake)

I can copy and paste what you have written I n the other cells .... this is PERFECT!!! YOU ARE AWSOME LUKE!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

I am at work but will play around with this when I get home and implement it with my other sheets. OMG this will save me so much time. You will not be forgotten my friend (-:

No, you should drag up. Since the input is at the bottom, I had to create an absolute reference to the bottom cell.
If you want to change the design where input is at top and numbers go down, you should be able to change the formulas. Look at the bottom row that has formulas, and you should be able to understand the formula.
