Copied excel chart shows hidden data after source data file closed

Hi,

i copied a excel chart with source data in a different workbook. the source data had data in some hidden colums too. Copied chart looks exactly the same as the chart in the source data file. But as soon as i close the source data file, copied chart starts showing the hidden data too. is there any way this can be avoided. your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sushil

Does the chart need to still be linked? If not, you could change the copy to a static picture.

Copy the region of cells surrounding the chart in source workbook, and then in desintation workbook, you could paste a picture link.

In 2003:

Hold Shift, then Edit - Paste Picture Link

In 2007+

Home - Paste - As Picture, Picture Link

This will force the 2nd chart to look exactly like the chart in 1st workbook.

Hi Sushil,

On a lighter note, you underestimate our (Excel Ninja)Luke M's solution??? never dare to do it again :)

Well, the when picture pasted as link will get auto updated when the source changes. There are multiple ways to do this.
