Conditional formatting using dates

1) I have a 'to-do' list with a column of 'date due' (column D)... I need to set up conditional formatting on that column so the things that are past due are red, due today are green, due tomorrow are yellow.

2) And the column 'E2 and on' next to that has 'not started/pending/complete' when it is at complete I need it to become green as well.

So there should be 3 conditional formulas total (or 2).

3) Is it possible to make the 'description' (column C) column change color as well based on the 'due date' column?

additional info: My 'today's date' is in E1.
