Conditional Formatting for Dates

Hello! This is such an informative site with so much information I feel like my brain might explode. Alas, I have been attempting to find an answer to my dilemma and now I am more confused than ever.

I am working with the following in Excel 2007:

I3 is start date

J3 is 7 days from start date

K3 is 14 days from start date

L3 is 30 days from start date

M3 is 60 days from start date

N3 is 85 days from start date

If the date has not past I want the font color green. If it is past the date I want it red so it is flagged and the user knows they need to contact the client for follow-up.

I have tried using some various formulas I have found online but I cannot get them to work properly so I know I am probably overlooking something simple.

Thank you so much for help anyone can provide.

Sandy

Selecting cells I3:N3, with cell I3 being active:

CF formula 1 is

=TODAY()>=I3

Format font green

CF formula 2 is

=TODAY()<I3

Format font red

Thank you SO much Luke! It is now working for me and the formula you provided was much simpler than any others I had seen.
