Conditional Formatting-Color whole ROW instead of Cell

Mistir

New Member
I have conditional formatting set to highlight a cell equal to specific data in a certain color. How do I get the whole row to highlight in the same color instead of just the one cell? Appreciate any and all help with this!

Example: Conditional Formatting is set up to highlight cell equal to "Posted" to be green. The word "Posted" is in cell I7. I need all the cells within row 7 to be green as well. However, row 7 will most likely change positioning as other information gets added to the chart...row 7 may move up or down depending on how the new information affects the sort.

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org Forums

The area highlighted by CF is the area choosen when CF is applied

If you want to highlight a whole row due to I7 = "Posted"

Select all Row 7 (Click on the 7 on the left hand Header)

Apply the CF using a formula
Code:
=$F7="Posted"

Apply your format

The $ sign stops all the cells looking relatively to there position to F7 and forces them all to look directly at F7
