Conditional formatting - background color according to cell

Hello,

I would like to ask you if there is any way to solve this:

• There are 50 working groups in column C
• Each work group is in a different color background in column C
• Gantt chart is on right side with conditional formatting

I would like to apply the same color background in Gantt chart (conditional formatting) according to color of working group (column C)

Yes, I have tried to find a lot of information.
But never find any so far.
Even in this perfect article there is no information about my case.
Probably it's too difficult?

I remember that has solved at least one time here too.
You should keep on searching.
I could have other than Your expected Ask an Excel, Conditional Formatting and worksheet -solution ( I mean with VBA and real Gantt-chart ).

In the attached, on sheet index (2), I've demonstrated how it could be done, but I've only done it to a number of cells: J10:KI68
In those cells is now a formula which can be copied across and down. In J10:

=IF(AND(J$8>=$E10,J$8<=$F10),$C10,"")

To hide the result of the formula I've used a custom format of ;;;
I've made small adjustments to the conditional formatting, and this applies to both J10:KI68 and C10:C68
