Compendium of Chandoo.org forum posts

Sajan

Excel Ninja
Hi All,

I recently started reading some of the older posts in the forum since I am a relatively new member here. As one would expect, there are quite a few Excel gems among the posts.

That got me wondering if there would be any interest in creating a compendium of the Chadoo_Org forum posts. I think it would help many discover (or rediscover) great Excel techniques and solutions. It could have various categories (such as Excel Formulas, Formula techniques, VBA tips, Chart techniques, etc.) to cover the spectrum of topics addressed by the various posts.

If there is interest in such a project, please respond with your suggestions for its goals, approach, etc.

Regards,

Sajan.

Hi Sajan ,

What a coincidence ! I was accessing MrExcel , and they have a section of their forum allotted to just such gems - http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/hall-fame-winners/

I was wondering whether Purna could do something similar here.

I'd suggest using the existing Tag system as a start

But maybe restricting the tagging to Ninjas

And having a referral forum where posts can be nominated by anyone

I know that I regularly refer people back to the same posts over and over again

Chandoo, any comments ?

Hi, Sajan!

A very good idea, I always thought that an organized VTOC is a must.

Regards!

@Hui

Hi!

Shhh... don't make any noise... KeyMaster is resting... got tired after so much luggage movements...

Regards!

Good day All

Some thing similar was posted in the link, there are answers from Hui and Chandoo

@All ... this is a good idea. I too felt that we should preserve some of the Excel gems in our forum. Since there is no organized way to do it, I used "favorites" feature to add interesting discussions to my favorites. (see them here: http://chandoo.org/forums/profile/keymaster/favorites )

Since I do not do a good job of reading all the questions and answers posted here, my list of favorites does not contain all the excellent discussions posted here.

Just to keep it simple, I suggest the following process:

1. Ninjas and most frequent users will have access to a special page on Chandoo.org where they can just post a URL & description for forum discussions they think are awesome.

2. Once every week, we take all these discussions and host them in a list fashion in Chandoo.org on a public page. Like Chandoo.org Forums Hall of Fame.

I am hesitant to use tagging system as it is broken and messing with it can slow down the site.

Let me know if this is ok. I can proceed with implementation.

I nominate Sajan for his solution in this post:

un-freakin-believable.

And then this one, again from Sajan:
