colouring same names with same colour in a column using cf

dear all,
say i have a column with some names eg

hul
hul
brittania
brittania
ub
icici
icici
icici

here i want all the same names with same colour and next set of same names with different set of colours . eg hul will be in blue , brittania say will be in red and ub will be in any other colour apart from red. can this be achieved using conditional formatting

Hi Paramnayak,

Use conditional formatting with "Use a formula...." option and set the formula =A1 = "icici" & than do the custom format....do for each name for the entire name range...

Find the attached file...if you want anything other than this, than please let us know.
