Basic excel user need help with calculations from dropdown list

What you mention now is different from the data which was available in your initial upload.

The value entered in cell E3 was 22340 , and the values entered in cells F3 , G3 and H3 were the weekly usage values such as 40 , 55 , 58.

I tried out the same data entry at my end ; I first deleted the values in F14 and G14.

Next I entered the value 9473 in F14.

Next I entered 9518 in G14.

A message box popped up displaying the following message :

Service Due threshold has been touched or crossed !

Yes I do apologise it is different to the values I had initially gave you I thought they would report only the hours the machine performed that week but when obtaining the information they gave me the actual hours of the machine had in total.

Sorry not messages in any of the cells.

Can you indicate how data is to be transferred to the cell in column C , as and when service is carried out ?

When the service is carried out column C I think probably this needs to be entered manually once that information is received.

How will the value from Columns F and beyond transfer to column E?
 
Hi ,

A checkbox can be provided , one for each row , which when clicked will transfer the data from the last column of data in the range F through N or even beyond , to the corresponding cell in column E.

Once the data has been transferred , the data will be erased. Is this OK ?

Is there any way around it so it doesn't get erased?

Otherwise it might be too hard to keep track if we have requested the details for that week for each machine.
 
Hi ,

No problem. Does it mean that the data will continue to be entered beyond column N , with fresh dates in row 1 ?

If you have an old workbook which has enough data for several months , we could work with that to make this foolproof.

I'll have to add the dates and upload. I'm just finishing work but will be able to provide it for you on Monday.

Hi ,

See the attached file.

You can enter data in cells in columns C and E , and G through AY.

As and when you decide that service has been carried out , check the respective checkbox ; the data will be transferred to the corresponding cell in column C , and the checkbox will be unchecked.

Let me know if you need any changes / additions.

How will this work ?

When you first enter a value in column E , will the columns from G through AY be blank ?

What if a mistake in made in data entry in any of these columns , and the entered value is edited ?

Yes you would initially enter a value in column E and columns from G to AY would be blank.

If there is a mistake in data entry in columns G to AY and changed is it not possible for the information to be updated in column E?

Hi ,

It is somewhat complicated to make an edit , but OK , we will see how it goes.

It will be difficult for the user to know whether there has been any mistake in the calculations once this is automated.

I will upload the revised file , and you can verify whether it works reliably.

I've uploaded the file you created for me a while ago. The macros seem not to be working. I've gone into view macros and run, this is the message I'm receiving. Can you please have a look at the worksheet to see why the macros are not working. Thank you again.
