In a cell if it says for example 6w or 3p .if i define w as 5 and p with some value. How do i get answer of 6w and also if i change w to p it must deduct the correct value of the variable and multiply automatically with the digit before it (In 6w, 6 is the digit)

Firstly, Welcome to the Chandoo.org forums.


You can use Named Formulas to do what you want


Eg: Lets say cell a1 has the value 10 you can named that cell as w

Then in another cell you can use the formula =6*w

similarly for p


To name the cell select the cell

Then type a name "w" (without the quotes) in the Name Box which is directly above cell A1
