Any good documentation on Excel 2007 data tables?

Hi there, has anyone seen a good and informative documentation about the new data tables', that were introduced in 2007 version, behavior?

At my work, we are just switching to office 2007 (duh, I know, a bit late but until now we had 2003) and I would like to implement the data tables as working with pivots and so on is quite neat. However, I have noticed that it not so easy to copy formulas across if they refer to column header as it was before. I need to understand how relative and absolute addressing in data tables work.

any suggestions about that? I would really appreciate any help.

Good day lockdalf

Thanks bobhc for quick reaction.

Unfortunately, I have dropbox blocked at work, so my curiosity will have to wait till I get home... ;o]]

Aaaah, I see that I will have quite some reading to do... ;o]]] But that is deffinitely good. Only set back is that I will go through the same stuff a few times... but hey, they say that repetition is the mother of wisdom... ;o]

thanks a lot for an interesting source...

Good day lockdalf

You are welcome, a bit of reading and soon you will be on the road to Ninja-hood :)

;o]]] Yeap, Ninja-hood, here I come... so far I am on the way somewhere around a Guru-hood since I am the one people turn to with help requests, but that does not mean I am good enough already. There sre still so many new things to learn, new ways to explore, now ideas to get , new view-points to ponder...

Hi Lockdalf,

I have been using Tables for some time now and must agree that it is frustrating not to thave the ability to copy formulas across.

The is a little ray of hope in that you can use the table name and field names when entering the formula. You can get the table name by entering the first character of the name and a list would appear for you to pick the table from. I therefore name all my tables with a T_ in this way by entering T i get a list of all the tables in the workbook.

Another ruse I use is to convert my formula into a text string and then copy this to the next column and then make the required changes.

Would be interested to know if you solve this problem.

cheers

I suggest anyone hoping to do serious work in Excel to know and use tables alot. They save you ton of time, help you write better formulas and make your workbooks look good.

All the best.
